When a large number of adults and so-called professionals can’t handle an unruly 9-year old, something is wrong with humanity. Especially when the child is a product of bad Adulting. Benni is an angry, bitter little monster who takes pleasure in tormenting other children and calling passersby crude names just for the fun of it.

Nora Fingscheidt gives us a glimpse at the three sides of her story, in System Crasher. What does Benni see? What does her family see? And what does the System see? More importantly, what do they do? Social workers aren’t always able to undo the damage that a biological parent may have done. As adults, we should question how a child got this way at such a young age. Look toward her parents before blaming a troubled mind or antisocial behavior patterns.

With the right care, could the Bennis of the world grow up to be happy and socially ‘normal’? In the end, maybe it isn’t about taming a wild horse.
