Hey Montrealers, the 13th Puppet Theatre Festival (For Adults and Children) kicks off this Thursday March 8 with an all audiences free of charge street event. La Liga Teatro Elástico (Mexico) will be featured. It starts at 4 PM from Pavillon St-Viateur, 532 Bloomfield Avenue, Outremont. Our Mexican friends and their Giant rod puppets will lead us (prepare the children for a 60- 90 mins outside walk, it’s still winter in MTL) on the way to the opening ceremonies at Theatre Outremont.

Note that the Centaur Theatre in Old Montreal will host Toronto’s Ronnie Burkett’s The Daisy Theatre (for 16 years up) in its original English version, at 8 thursday. Burkett will meet with the audience after the performance.

Other event catching our Cinetalk eyes; The Puppet Slam (13 years+, Friday 7PM, Theatre Outremont), an evening of short form puppet theatre.

As it should always be the case, natives are in the portrait through Inuit artist Nancy Saunders. There’s gonna be some throat singing event included … We dig!

To put it simply, there is something for everyone at the fest (shows, workshop, etc) and it is running from March 8 to 11. Good for us.
