After their son dies, a couple adopt a foster child. They soon find out that the child’s dreams become reality and the nightmares could be deadly.
Writer-director Mike Flanagan (Oculus, the upcoming Ouija sequel) has quickly become one of the new interesting voices in today’s American horror genre. This new supernatural fantasy horror film derived a little from the excessive wave of paranormal/supernatural films that swarm from Hollywood in the last decade. The themes are closer to early Stephen King novels, dealing with child’s fear of the unknown. While it doesn’t really cover new territories, Flanagan manages to add some lyricism and poetical symbolic to the fairly predictable. It’s an effective little shocker.
