Famous for his tough investigations, a short-tempered prosecutor is framed for murder and sentenced to 15 years in prison. Five years later, he meets a good-looking con man and carries out a plan to counterattack those who framed him.
First-time director Lee Il-Hyung hits the bull’s eye in this engaging crowd-pleasing little crime-thriller. Sharing similarities with Frank Darabont’s The Shawshank Redemption, and despite being a tad overlong (126 minutes), it mixes comedy and drama with good results.
The film works mainly due to the chemistry between the two male leads (Hwang Jung-Min has the jailed prosecutor and Gang Dong-Won has the funny con artist) whose sympathetic performances are greatly entertaining.
